About Sal Santiago

Sal Santiago was born in Santiago, Chile — and yes, that's where part of his stage name comes from. When he was 16 years old, his parents and family immigrated to the United States, bringing with them a young man whose passion for music was already undeniable. As a teenager in Chile, he was already recording for RCA Chile — a remarkable achievement that foreshadowed a career unlike any other.

Sal went on to become the drummer of the Grand Ole Opry Band for over three years, where he had the honor of backing some of the greatest legends in country music history — Dolly Parton, George Jones, Crystal Gayle, and Marty Robbins. Sitting on the drum throne of the kit on that legendary Nashville stage week after week shaped Sal into the world-class musician and entertainer he is today.
